What is Data Visualization

Data visualization is the graphical representation of data, processed through visual elements like charts, graphs and maps.

From road signs, to maps, to analytical dashboards and infographics, if we take a moment to acknowledge how visualized data has impacted our day to day life, we can quickly conjure the enormous impact of data visualization. Data visualization can encompass a wide-spectrum of analytical information. This can be quantitative or qualitative information ranging between simple to massive data that can be visualized using technological and graphic design tools.

Data Visualization has initially been allied to business intelligence. Data analytics aids key players in making major decisions in the business world. They help improve operational efficiency, optimize marketing, gauge emerging trends and increase revenue. But data visualization is growing to be everywhere and across all fields that touch our lives on day to day basis. So many things in our world runs off data, and this is becoming increasingly evident in the field of education. Visualization practices and technologies are gradually influencing and shaping perceptions of education and helping us envision the future of education.

David McCandless demonstrates how complex data sets, can be changed into beautiful, simple diagrams that derive unseen patterns and connections. "Good design, he suggests, is the best way to navigate information glut -- and it may just change the way we see the world"

Modern tools of visualization assist our brains in drawing insights that traditional approaches of data interpretation never addressed. Data      visualization is beautiful indeed!

There are various techniques to envisage data by graphically mapping the values. Above are some examples.
